Urban Infill That Connects

The Heritage Station Development project, located in southwest Calgary, AB, is an optimally located large-scale urban infill, mixed-use development. The unique topography of the site facilitates a 5-level underground parkade, terraced podiums and compelling views. The transit-oriented location and mixture of uses creates an urban village look and feel rooted in connectivity.

Completed phases of the project include two 21-storey residential towers (715 units), 107,000 sf of commercial anchored by a 40,000sf grocery store, and 1935 parking stalls.

Consumer Oriented Design

Amenities, linkages and benefits that few other sites in Calgary can boast.

  • A terraced site optimally located for a mixed-use development.
  • Four high-rise concrete towers totalling around 1,200 residential units.
  • Approximately 30,000 sq. ft. of resident-focused on-site amenities.
  • Lifestyle-oriented retail with approximately 40,000 sq. ft. grocer and 60,000 sq. ft. of smaller retail bays.
  • A parking structure large enough to accommodate 2,000 parking stalls.

In 2014, Westcorp was approved for two 27 storey towers to complete the final phase of its Heritage Station mixed-use project located between Macleod Trail and Horton Rd.  When economic conditions necessitated a pause in construction plans, the years following saw the lapse of the development permit as well as changes to the building code, both of which have led to the need for a new development permit.

Located at 8710 & 8800 Horton Road SW, Westcorp’s proposed 27-storey twin tower development (DP2023-08522) is an extension to an existing transit-oriented residential and commercial site. The design will tie into the existing parkade and retail fronting Macleod Trail, and provide 633 rental units and two guest suites, along with ~30,000 square feet of shared amenity space for the current and future residents.  Each of the two new towers has been rotated by 15 degrees to add to visual interest and maximize daylighting and views.  As part of the development, improvements such as sidewalks and landscaping will be made to the public realm along Horton Rd.
