Westcorp is proud to be a host for Junior Achievement’s Job Shadow Day 2016 kicking off JA’s Company Program!

Held February 2nd every year, Job Shadow day offers students a unique opportunity: a visit to a professional work environment and insights into finding and keeping a fulfilling career.  The event is sponsored by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.

Students participating in the program have already been involved in the flagship program, the Company Program, for at least one year in order to qualify for Job Shadow Day.  They must apply, and specify what they have an interest in before they are paired with a host company in their preferred field.  The Company Program is an 18-week long program where students in Grades 9-12 start their own company.  Over the course of the program, these companies will create a business plan and product, produce and sell the product; and liquidate at the end of the program.  Each company will face its own challenges and will identify where they feel their product is filling a niche within the market.

Westcorp is proud to be hosting two Grade 11 students from Strathcona Composite High School who are participating in the Company Program.
